Pre - Heresy Dreadnought

I have changed my plans and will not be doing a Space Wolves Pre - Heresy Army. Instead, I will be creating a pre-heresy Imperial Fists army. I have not given up on the Space Wolves that are my favorite army. But as their rules will not be updated for another year and a half I will not waste time making stuff that will likely be redundant in the next Codex.

Thus, onward to the Imperial Fists. During the Great Crusade the use of Dreadnoughts was limited due to their not being really that many mortally wounded heroes laying around to stick into dreadnoughts. For some reason you had to be really cool to be kept alive in an armoured hospital gurney.

Anyway, here is the start of what will be an Iron Clad Dreadnought for the Pre-Heresy Imperial Fists.

Mark II Crusader Armour... Work in Progress.

The Next Phase in the Pre Heresy Modeling Project.... Mark II Crusader Armour. I really like how this one has turned out and is so far my second favorite, next to the Justaerian Terminator. I will put more pictures up later of the finished suit and the redone Mark IV and V suits.

Rivets are cool.

I went and purchased a 1/16th inch hole punch from Hobby Lobby's scrapbook section. This little hole punch has already been employed in making hundreds of tiny rivets for my marine army :0

Here is a picture of the Justaerian Terminator again, but now with rivets!!! Huzaah!

Mark III Iron Armour for the Pre-Heresy Project

Here are some pictures of the Mark III Iron Armour Suit I have been working on for the last two days. Overall I am pleased and cant wait to get the hole punch I need to start putting rivets on all the pre heresy projects. Tomorrow I will be starting the Mark II Crusader Suit... Hopefully I can find some more Kneadatite since the Crusader suit needs alot of attention...

Battlefleet Gothic: Orks vs Thousand Sons... One Point Slug Fest Victory!

The last BFG game me and Churoc played resulted in an ork victory. However, the Thousand Sons came back and scraped out a very narrow victory against the rampaging fleet of Churoc Faar.

With the outcome uncertain for both fleets late in the game, the Thousand Sons managed to get behind the Ork fleet and forced them to withdraw. After calculating Vp's the Orks actually won the game by one victory point. However, the Orks lost the game in the campaing sense of things since they left the zone to be controlled by the Thousand Sons.

If Churoc Faar would have stuck around for a few more turns her would have lost a great portion of his fleet to the prow lances of the Thousand Sons...

Tomorrow... the rematch!

Justaerian Terminator Update

After a few weeks of settling in and unpacking I finally decided to pull out the pre heresy stuff and finish it. I have searched far and wide to gather the needed armour types and vehicle designs.

I have made mark 4-6 armour and have the plans to make mark 1-3. I have jetbikes, an old land speeder or two, and have plasticard plans, from a Yahoo site, for a mark one Land Raider and all rhino hull tanks. All that is missing at the moment is an old dreadnought and some robots, these I will have to scratch build.

Before we moved from our beloved Texas to Utah I was working on a Justearian Terminator squad. Last nigght I decided to pull out the Terminators and finish them. The latest simple conversion was taking two old style bolters and constructing a combi bolter. I am pretty pleased with the gun since it lacks the sleak look of the new storm bolter.

The next step will be to all some rivets to the armour, make the studded roman leather strips which will hang from the waist and from the shoulder guards, and make the tassle flowing on the top. Below is a picture of the new combi bolter conversion as well as a picture of the Justearian Terminator look I am shooting for.

BFG: Orks vs Thousand Sons... Ork Victory.

During the time I spent at Churoc's home we played other games as well. We played Dark Heresy a couple of times but my favorite games were the two Battlefleet Gothic games we played.

Here are some pictures of the first skirmish between Churoc's Ork scouting fleet and my own scout fleet...
The battle occured on the outskirts of the Pyric III system and both fleets were sent to investigate a space hulk moving towards the inner system. The Space Hulk moved each turn across the board, something I forgot about late in the game, and would suck ships into low orbit.

Thousand Sons vs. Dark Eldar... A massacre in the making

I had a chance to play another old friend of mine while waiting for my wife to come up to Utah. Buck and I haven't played a game since the battle of the "Wall that wasn't there and where did we get those smoke grenades from!"

I decided to run my Thousand Sons against Buck's Infamous, if you ask Vercegetrix that is, tournement armies, his Dark Eldar Wytch force, his Tyranids, or his Necorns. Buck wanted to test out one of his recent lists for a tournament he was taking part in the next day. He would not tell me which force he was planning to bring as this would be unfair to him.

I Arrived at Bucks home full of hope and cheer. At this point Buck rolled a dice to see which army he would field against mine. he rolled a 2 which meant that he would bring his Dark Eldar Wytch army.

Having never played against the Dark Eldar, let alone the nasty Wytches, I was a little bit concerned how well I might do againt it, Especially since I was bringing Thousand Sons...

We set up the terrain tournement style, which means there was hardly any terrian on the board, especially if you compare it with the battle against the orks below.

The battle was seize and secure Omega style, which meant that the first turn passed with the birds happily chirping since we both had nothing to set up on the table. On turn two Buck brought on some Raiders full of troops but had nothing to shoot at. My turn two wnet the same. Turn three saw most of Bucks army arrive while most of mine still lingered elswhere, yet I advanced up the field with what I had downed some raiders, and secured the central objective.

Turn four was the critical turn in the game. Buck hurt me a great deal with the dark lance dance and then charged the lone Thousand Sons squad holding the central objective. The Thousand Sons unit held its ground againts 20 Wytches and some nasty Wytch chica. My turn four doomed the Dark Eldar to eternal disgrace.

The Thousand Sons holding the center were joined by another TS unit two deamon princes and a slew of daemons. My greater daemon finally showed with the raptors, and adding insult to injury the oblitorators alongside the left flank Thousand Sons downed many many Raiders. The poor Wytches in the center were being popped into spawn by the sorcerors and the daemon princes... and then Buck could take no more.... He quietly conceeded the match as a massacre.

On a happier note for Buck his Dark Eldar force one the tounement the next day :)
