Austin Trip June 2007

Last Weekend me and the Wife took a mini vacation, actually a business trip, down to the Texas Capitol in Austin. We woke up early friday morning and drove down to Ausitn which only took about 3 hours. Upon arrival, I dropped my wife at her business meeting and checked into the Omni Hotel. After her meeting we went sight seeing and went out to eat. The next day we spent just galavanting around the Capitol grounds and walking through the city streets. After that we drove home to Dallas. All in all a good mini vacation from Dallas life.

Thats for damn sure!!

2006 Vacaction

Good evening everyone! I have been meaning to put these pictures up online, especially since many of my friends have never seen my wife. Two weeks before Christmas last year, me and the wife took a two week trip to California. We drove through New Mexico and the horrible snow storms that hit the Rockies. We stopped to tour Meteor Crater in Arizona, Spent three days in Las Vegas, and the rest of the Vactation we spent on the beach enjoying ourselves and visiting family.

Ahhh, the sands of my favorite beach --Newport--

Play By Mail Warmaster, 40K, BFG, ETC...

A while back I stumbled upon a cool computer game system that allows two or more players to play games via email. The game system is called Cyberboard and was created by Dale Larson. The basic premise of the system allows players to make army tiles, terrain, and playing peices. When Playing Cyberboard the system allows players to set up armies hidden or otherwise. When a player moves his army the system records all moves which are then emailed to the opponent who can then play back the moves with the VCR buttons.

To play Cyberboard the players need to create tiles for all parts to be used in the game... everything including markers, terrain, and playing peices. Their are many places to download already made army and terrain tiles form many many games. To download Cyberboard and play against your distant buddies visit

http://cyberboard.brainiac.com/index.html

Personally I have made terrain and playing peices for most of what is needed to play Warmaster, 40k, and I have plans to make BFG.

If anyone is interested I also wrote down a step by step set of instructions which outline how to create armies and play Cyberboard. If you need a copy of these just place a comment below with your general email address and I will send it to you. I could also send the game boxes for Warmaster and 40k.

The two pictures below are the armies and terrain I have made for Warmaster enjoy...

Good Ideas

A few days ago I went to the local gameshop here in Plano. While I was there I discovered they had changed the display cases which now showcased better figures than before. I really liked the Ultramarine drop pods that were scratch built from picnic cups and plasticard. Also, in the smaller display case I saw some painted figures for the new Warmachine game. The figures were awsome and the painting spectacualr, it is hard to believe they were painted by a 14 yr old boy whom the store gamers refer to as little heffe.

Classic

The Game of the Decade part 2

After the set-up at 9-10pm mountain time the game began. At around 6-7am the game ended with the Furious Orks of Churoc, Vlad's Valiant Dark Angels, and Buck's well crafted and Balanced (???) Wytch Elves winning the day.
The Thousand Sons were able to hold off the Dark Angels from securing the main objective but were also unable to secure it. Ptolelemy Vercengetrix, and Churoc (sometimes assited by Buck with a shot here and there) fought a massive and bloody battle in the jungles. However, the Squigoth proved to be the deciding factor of the battle as it delivered Churoc Faar and his Scarboyz into combat.
Another deciding factor of the game was the death of Vercengetrix's Chaplain who was slain in sillyness by a squig hound. Jayjay was able to withstand the charge of cheese thrown at him by Buck for 6 turns. Jayjay also was able to deliver a few valuable kills which hampered Vlads continuous attempts to secure the objective.
Buck charged his whole army at one player and naturally did well since that player was fighting two enemies while Buck was fighting only one. The Thousand Sons suffered greatly during the battle. I forgot that screamers moved 12'' not 6'' and that they could fly... a critical mistake. The Sorcerors of the Thousand Sons could also not land a blow in hand to hand combat the entire game and one of the Chosen of Ahriman also killed his entire squad by deep striking into a tank.
The Highlight of the game for the Thousand Sons was the absolute destruction of Vlads prized assault squad when 4 winds of chaos hit him and then 81 heavy bolter shots. Also the Fact that Nurgle and Tzeentch forces were allied and helping each other beat off the continous raining of terminators from Vlad ( he seemed to be deep striking 2 squads a turn).
All in all the game was very fun and it was great to hang out and see all of the lads. It was funny to see Churoc and Vercengetrix arguing again over the "rubber ruler" and to hear Bucks explanations on why the Dark Eldar are truly a glass sword army :) It was also great to see Ptolemy fighting by our sides and giving the greatest words of encouragement we heard the entire battle. Ptolemy's words of encouragement were, "I really hate playing this game, I do not know why I play it at all. I only really like to paint the miniatures" :) Seeing Vlad's army win for a change was also a draw dropper. Me and Jayjay had fun in our corner going over the rulebook each time it was out turn.
I wish we could do this more often...

Churoc charging across the jungle towards the trenches held by Vercengetrix.

Vlads doomed Assualt squad and Chaplain just seconds before the Winds of Chaos hit them.
The Thousand Sons move towards the heart of the city just prior to Vlads assault squad jumping over the building.
Another doomed Dark Angels squad just prior to the Nurgle and the Thousand Sons Winds of Chaos attack.
In the center of the Jungle near the huts a massive melle is brewing Bucks brave Dark Eldar can just be seen in the left corner. Ptolemy's orks are about to charge!

Ptolemy charges in...

The first attempt of my Lord to hit... and this trend continued the whole game for me and for Jayjay.
As seen from the top to the city's water tower... death!
The last footage of Vercengetrix's Chaplain prior to his death by a squig hound.
Tzeentch and Nurgle working together to stop Vlads attempt to secure the tower... In the distance behind the brave terminators you can just make out Bucks army :)

The Game of the Decade part 1

This is the pictoral accounting of the gathering of the Provo Boy's for the Game of the Decade! I think the last time we were all in the same state at one time was over 8 years ago. So let us begin the story.

Here is the last frantic moments of painting before the big game. My army was 99% done for the game and never became 100% due to the two models being characters. However, they were playable. Churoc (on the left) has already painted his entire Ork army and is happily painting terrain for the game. Vercengetrix (on the phone) is trying, oh so trying to paint the bolters for his marines. Alas, they were not completed and his army took to the field without any guns.

Setting-up for the game. Churoc is pulling out his massive hoard as Jayjay (who hasn't played in 12 years) trys to make sense of the Nurgle Army list that Churoc has just handed him. Yes the list was made by Churoc and he was on the other side. To that I say Hmmmmmn very very interesting :)

Vercengetrix (blue shirt) sets up his armless warriors while Churoc seems to be moving terrain to suit his army better... You have been cought in the act sir! Explain yourself! the bottom of the shot is the beginning of Ptolemy's Ork Mob.

Upon closer examination it seems that some of Vercengetrix's warriors do indeed have arms... and guns... who would have thought it possible?

The other side of Ptolemy's Ork Mob.

Jayjay's Nurgle army set-up and advancing towards Alexanders Dark Angel Scouts. Ptolemy is advancing upon the arch coward and heretic Buck who is pleading with Churoc for some aid :)

The Thousand Sons position themselves in the City and prepare to fight for the Dark God Tzeentch. Fear then for they are awsome!
Here Churoc presents his army..., and..., wait..., Hold on a sec..., Churoc what is that huge massive snarling creature? He calmly explains that it is a Squigoth and it is going to kill everything on the table so we might as well just end the game now and watch a movie :) In the far far far right corner you can barely see Buck's Dark Eldar hiding behind a building pleading yet again for aid :)

A closer view of Churoc's wonder weapon. It is ver impressive and was a present from Churocs wife who hired a sculptor to make the whole thing, including the howdah, so that Churoc could win all the time :)
Vlad (Alexander) sets up his Dark Angels facing the Thousand Sons. He Brings many many warriors.

Maximitus Torion

This was a slight conversion of the regular Space Marine Captain model that I painted up for my friend Churoc Faar. Maximitus Torion is Churocs Black Templar Commander for Warhammer 40,000. The conversions on Maximitus are: moving the storm bolter over to the left are and building support struts for the gun, putting the sword from the Emperors Champion in the left hand, the storm shield is an older variant and the cross pieces are made from plasticard, the corss on the top of the armor is also made from plasticard as is the right shoulder guard, the wreath over the head was constructed by drilling two small holes on both sides of the head and then bending a wire into both holes and sculpting the wreath by hand (not the best but it will do). All in all I was sorry to see the model go...
